The communicative approach (Communicative Language Teaching/CLT) has become a relevant language teaching strategy in improving students' language skills, particularly in the context of Arabic language learning in Islamic Senior High Schools (Madrasah Aliyah) in Indonesia. This article aims to analyze the application of the communicative approach in Arabic language teaching and evaluate its effectiveness in improving students' communication skills. The research was conducted through a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, using classroom observation techniques, interviews with teachers, and analysis of curriculum documents. The results show that the communicative approach is able to encourage students' active involvement in the learning process, increase their confidence in speaking, and enrich listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in a balanced manner. However, the implementation of CLT in Islamic Senior High Schools still faces several challenges, including limited interactive learning media, teachers' ability to master communicative methods, and students' tendency to be accustomed to traditional methods based on grammar and translation. Nevertheless, adapting the communicative approach by considering the local context and students' learning culture has been proven to provide positive results in achieving communicative competence. Thus, this study emphasizes the importance of improving teachers' pedagogical competence, providing learning media that support interactive communication, and strengthening competency-based curricula. In conclusion, the communicative approach is an effective alternative for teaching Arabic in Islamic Senior High Schools (Madrasah Aliyah), provided it is supported by contextual, innovative, and sustainable implementation strategies.
