Abstract

This study aims to examine the tarbawi (educational) values in the Qur’an as a conceptual foundation for teaching Arabic through a maktabiyyah (library research) approach. The background of this research stems from the recognition that Arabic, as the language of divine revelation, serves not only as a means of communication but also as a medium for internalizing Islamic educational values. In practice, Arabic language instruction in Islamic educational institutions often remains focused on grammatical aspects and tends to neglect the integration of spiritual values derived from the Qur’an. Therefore, this research seeks to explore Qur’anic tarbawi values that can serve as the foundation for developing holistic Arabic language learning. Primary data were obtained from the Qur’an and major tafsir works, such as Tafsir al-Maraghi and Tafsir al-Mishbah, while secondary data were collected from books and scholarly journals on Islamic education. Data were analyzed using a descriptive-analytical method to identify, classify, and interpret the tarbawi values relevant to Arabic language pedagogy. The findings reveal that tarbawi values such as sincerity (ikhlas), trustworthiness (amanah), patience (sabr), responsibility, and love of knowledge form the spiritual foundation of Islamic education and should be integrated into the Arabic language curriculum. Teaching Arabic based on Qur’anic values fosters students’ spiritual awareness, learning ethics, and intrinsic motivation. Consequently, integrating tarbawi values in Arabic instruction not only enhances linguistic competence but also nurtures individuals who are faithful, knowledgeable, and morally upright in accordance with the goals of Islamic education.
